“The vast majority of human beings dislike, and even actually dread, all notions
with which they are not familiar…Hence it comes about that at their first
appearance innovators have…always been derided as fools and madmen.”
Aldous Huxley
Municipal Potable, Sewage and Wastewater treatment
Since the 1990’s, over 300 municipalities in the United States and Canada have been using Ozone for treating both potable and wastewater treatment. And the number grows steadily.
Estimated costs per gallon of potable water purified, using our technologies: $0.00091 per gallon.
Estimated costs per gallon of sewage and other wastewaters purified using our technology: $0.0019 per gallon plus any costs of separation.
For purification of potable and wastewater, we use UV technology which does not react to moisture, creating nitric acid.
We also build Corona Discharge units and are working on an advanced technology which will lessen the creation of nitric acids, but are not yet prepared to offer these units. Chlorine contributes to the creation of THMs and other contaminants. Refer to various posting by US EPA and other authorities. During WWI, European cities witnessed the effect of chlorine gas. They looked for alternate methods of sterilizing potable and wastewater, and have been using Ozone for, now, over 80 years.
Municipalities relying on ponds or reservoirs for water supply, which can have leaves and other biological matter in them, run the risk of having high levels of Total trihalomethanes (TTHMs) in their supply. (Source, US EPA and others.)
THMs include:
| Chloroform | Bromodichloromethane (BDCM) | Dibrochloromethane (DBCM) |
| Bromoform | chlorite | Haloacetic Acids (HAA5) |
| Bromate |
All, of the above are proven carcinogens – a cause of cancer in humans.
The proper amount of Ozone, properly applied will remove over 99.999% of these elements. Ozone is an excellent flocculant and microflocculant (coagulant) which will cause minute particles to form larger particles for removal using the proper post-treatment filtration.
We do not manufacture filters, but rely on several manufacturers of high-quality filters to advise and furnish their products for our installations.
ERAC – Clean Air, Inc. have developed extremely effective injection units to assure maximum absorption of Ozone into the water, and maximum contact with contaminants.
Any disinfectant, when contacting a microbe, will insert into the cell wall, causing disruption of the molecular structure – killing the microbe. Ozone is proven to be one of the strongest disinfectants – oxidants – known and works over 3,000 times faster than chlorine, with no harmful byproducts.
(Refer to “Chemical Reaction.”)
We design injection units and Ozone Generation units for any potable or wastewater application. So far, we have not reached an “upper limit” on O3 Generation.
When sterilizing a municipal sewage/wastewater system, the sterilized and dried solids mixed with yard wastes becomes a valuable product for use on lawns, flower and vegetable gardens. It could become an income-producing product for the municipality.
Basically, the Flow Chart would resemble the retrofit Flow Chart for a CAFO having a lagoon. (Refer to “Hog Farms” and “Indiana Installation.”)
We would welcome an opportunity to provide a Budgetary Proposal for your municipality.
Savings in not having to use chlorine - a dangerous chemical responsible for many deaths of municipal workers – and other chemicals for purification and taste will probably pay for installation of our technology in less than two years.
